Somnius is one of the worlds just beyond Fantasium, known as a 'Nightmare Realm' or 'World of Darkness' by Fantasms unfortunate enough to grace its presence. While in Somnius, a Fantasm's appearance can change, taking on a more neon-coloured appearance, to stand out from the shadows lurking around every corner. Somnius is governed by a creator not of Fantasm blood- Starscape, an entity of unknown origin, but of a simple disguise- a cat-Fantasm named Owl who lurked around the Treebound Sanctum.
A Somniforme is a creature that takes the appearance of a Fantasm, albeit corrupted, and designed specifically for one purpose: Tormenting any unlucky victim of Starscape's web. Somniformes seem to have a small amount of their own will, but generally lack anything that would mark them as 'intelligent'- they carry only basic instincts, and while some are capable of vocalisation, they are not capable of speech- only cackling.
